Nice cockup, switcheroo, failed tactic, etc. Whatever it was, it failed, and McCain has announced he will participate in the foreign policy debate tonight. I bold that because in light if this week’s events, I kind of doubt they will stay on track. Unfortunately for McCain, that would be a bad thing as polls show the public quite favors Obama over McCain when it comes to the economy.
Anyhoo, in light of McCain’s whole suspended campaign/delay the debate debacle, here are a great selection of headlines from today:
Ex-Adviser: McCain “Blinked,” Campaign “Governed By Tactics, Not Ideology”
Flashback: McCain backs out of debate in California (2000)
At White House, McCain Plays Bailout Spoiler
McCain “Not familiar with the details” of the Financial Bailout Plan
Side-Effect of McCain’s Almost Debate Cancellation – Ole’ Miss Audience Hates Him
Conservative Columnist Wants Palin To Bow Out of VP Spot
Rumors: McCain Aids Know Palin is Clueless After Mock Debates; wish to reschedule debate to “never”
McCain Somehow Turns Almost-Deal Into Clusterfuck
All this in a couple days. Kind of a bad week for McCain, no? And this is the guy (and Palin I suppose) who could be running the country. Unbelievable.
In better, funnier news, CBS is kind of pissed that Letterman hijacked the McCain/Couric live interview feed during the taping of The Late Show, but they won’t do anything about it (probably because it was hilarious, it pointed out another McCain lie, and angry Letterman gets better ratings than normal Letterman).
